Just when you think things are lining up I see this:

Sex Offender Details Page - NY DCJS

I had my heart set on this place - and now...I don't think so - I'm not naive, I know these people have to live somewhere - but not moving into a place that has one i KNOW ABOUT seems like a foolish thing to do.

Really disappointed, and shaken, but glad I looked.

It's all about your comfort level. Go with your instincts. If you feel uncomfortable look elsewhere. Nobody can judge you.

Good detective work,Vic ! Not sure I would let this be the deciding factor without even more detective work though.

I would try to find out how up to date the info is(whether the offender is actually still living there) first. Also, there are a number of buildings in Brady Court. Is this the building you were looking at or is it another building in the complex?
Unfortunately,in a big city,we have little control over who lives in our neighborhoods or buildings. If you search the sex offender registries by plugging in zip codes ,you will find that there are sex offenders in virtually every neighborhood including the UES and other neighborhoods where residents might be shocked to find them.Granted it would be unnerving to discover a sex offender down the hall or in the same building but what about the one you don't find out about down the block or around the corner?

As Seventh said ,it is ultimately about your comfort level but you might want to do a little more digging before you make a final decision.

Thanks for the post. I honestly lost a little patience when I posted, and I apologize. We all won't find the perfect neighborhood. Even as much as you love Pelham Parkway I'm sure there are some inconsistencies. But we all deal with it.

Well 762 was the building we were looking at - which is why the initial shock was so strong- an offender in the same building is a deal breaker for me.

And while I know these types are all over our city - I am aware of the Sex Offender registry - where I got the data from - I always look in my nabe to see what creepo is lurking, and I'm lucky - the one we had was more than 20 blocks away form us - and very old - may even be dead now - not to say he was the only one, - but the one i knew about I kept my eyes on.

As for comfort level, this is off the chart for me, I have no way of feeling safe alone in a laundry facility, hallway, or even at home if there is an offender that shares the same space as me.

- My husband said the same thing as you BD2 - "find out if he is still living there" - I was so in shock this hadn't occurred to me - who would I ask? sex offender registry? or BC coop mgmt?
ALSO: Is there no more board at BC? I find it hard to believe a board would allow an offender occupancy in their community unless forced to by law - I am not up on the laws regarding discrimination as in allowing/disallowing offenders residence - but if he is still there, I cant in all good conscious more there.

What is even worse, the 2nd buiding, blocks away on Cruger Ave, there was ANOTHER sex offender - this one taqgged as a rapist - (the BC one was tagged as a sex abuser, not sure what the diff is - maybe just had a better defense attorney - either way - 2 creepos in the 2 buildings we were interested in makes me super scared.

Same building makes a big difference so I do understand the concern.

I would definitely call the Brady Court management and tell them what you have found out and see what they have to say.The creep might be living with a g/f or someone and the management might not even know he is there.I know most co ops do background searches on potential buyers and on known renters but that doesn't help when some creep moves in with someone or when an apartment owner rents out their apartment without board approval. If nothing else you will raise a ruckus because if I were on a co op board and a potential buyer brought this info to me the s... would hit the fan!Not good for sales,to say the least.

Weird thing is Brady Court is right across the street from an elementary school.I thought there were laws about the distance a sex offender could live from a school but I don't know what the distance is.I'd call the registry place and tell them and see what they have to say too.

There is a number of the managing office/sponsor on the side of the building....I will pm it to you when I get it the next time I'm over there.

Does anyone know how to get the tele or email addy of a management company for a co-op complex? I have been looking online for contact info for Brady Court in the Bronx, and I cant seem to find the number at all. As a matter of fact I cant seem to find any info, save sales of the units in Brady Court.
