The nearest subway is the 2 and 5 trains stop so somewhere Upper East Side near Lexington Avenue( 5 train),Upper West Side(2 train) or The East Bronx around Pelham Parkway/Morris Park will give you the straightest/fastest shot.
Budget ? That will help decide.
If you have or get a car you could think about other areas but it's really not necessary.
What about the other hospitals in Brooklyn,and Queens that you were concerned about ?

I do only one month in bronx. I figure I just get that out of the way by staying somewhere close by for that month and deal with the others later. Budget is around $2000. Thanks. I will see if I can find an apartment in those areas for a short term lease.
That the Fulton Ave. area is not the nicest part of town.
