Some years ago, ABC was one of the first to jump in headfirst with the "happy talk" news format. Ever since they abandoned real journalism, they've been floundering around helplessly, trying everything they can think of to boost their audience. Apparently, going back to broadcasting real news isn't on their priority list.

Ugh, I remember when they had that "happy talk." Don't forget they made Geraldo Rivera a star. He's been tooting his own horn for 40 years how he "broke" the story about Willowbrook, as if no one didn't already know.

HMM, it's probably not going to be for another year but they'll probably replace it with whatever they're eventually going to have Katie Couric do for ABC.....

I just don't like how the news channels have positioned themselves as of late. NBC 4's gone with the up and coming/transplant set by rearranging their news broadcasts to allow for more social reporting and trend following, especially with that one hour long meant for young 20 something's lifestyle program they air at 5PM, a slot they used to run the news on.

PIX 11's reacted by trying to be "real" NYC, by running ads with their reporters looking dark and serious surrounded by trash or broken CRT televisions, with dumb on the street interviews with "real" New Yorkers. Not to mention their TV ads where they play this somber "real" guitar solo as background for the reporter's inane nonsense monologue about how "real" they are.

Fox 5 seems to have moved a bit to the right in recent years to align itself better with its parent company, who still doesn't know what to do with My9, and I never really cared for CBS 2.

NEWS is anything but.
Yep two cutesy types making small talk between commercials doesn't quite cut the mustard.

And the networks wonder why they are losing audiences to "cable."

I hope people stop watching channel 4 @ 5 so those 2 ugly skanks get taken off the air! I guess their trying to replicate Hoda & kathy at 10 am. But channel 4 just is trying to be all about trend, gossip & star reporting. It's really sad, they have acess Hollywood for dat nonsense already! I rather see Sue Simmons curse out chuck scarbough on air! I only watch the nightly news on nbc, I hate everything else channel 4, I watch CBS for all the l news Local news. Eyewitness news is just so ghetto!
