i want to know which are some of the good neighborhoods to live in so that i can easily commute to port washington station daily? i dont have a problem with sharing and living with roommates as long as its somewhere in the city.. (thats becoz i dont want to rent an expensive apartment just for myself) i have always wanted to live in nyc.. so just need to know which neighborhoods will be better for commuting to port washington daily..
Is Queens part of your search? If so, check out Bayside, specifically in the Bell Blvd area between 35th and 47th avenues. The Bayside LIRR station is halfway between those points and a trip to Port Washington is about 15-20 minutes.
You mean Manhattan? Because the other 4 boroughs are also part of the city.
In any case, anywhere along the Port Washington Branch of the LIRR would be good. Woodside, and Bayside in Queens would work, but if you insist on staying in Manhattan, you'll have to be near Penn Station (Chelsea, Hells Kitchen, etc)
well i thought the city was just manhattan! im sorry i am a newbie here
well i am staying in queens right now but would want to live somewhere in manhattan..
so from what i read above clinton , chelsea, hells kitchen?
any more suggestions? so overall would these neighborhoods be safe as well? i have no idea about manhattan so need all the info i can get.. thanks..
that is going to be a pretty rotten commute!! are you going to take a taxi every day from the train to your job? you are better off driving East from Queens.
FYI--- when one says "the city" they often mean Manhattan, but New York City or NYC refers to the whole darn thing (5 boroughs)
is the commute really going to be that bad? i know that the LIRR takes around 45min from penn station to the port washington station... which is not too bad in my opinion .. im in queens right now and it takes me anywhere from 30-45min to drive.. so i guess its about the same without me having to drive daily? correct?
i would like more inputs about the commute..
