You are right. Great reasons for moving.

NYC attracts three kinds of people. Immigrants that have to start at the bottom and don't know any better. Very wealthy people who can afford penthouses on the Upper East Side. And of course, young single college students and "professionals" who want some action and buy into the NYC brand name.

Default NJ a good option?

MY wife and I are moving from Australia is NJ a good option for us? If so what are the safe neighbourhoods as we would like to check them out on the web prior to arriving.

I wouldn't want to live over a cesspool. I'll stick with LI.

FYI. LI has a lot of environmental issues. Very high cancer rates.

Jersey is okay. But let's not go too crazy with the Jersey support. Some parts of Jersey are better than others.

The public schools are way better than NYC, I will give them that.

From what I've seen of NJ, if you're commuting to the city then it's better to live in the cities that are close to the GWB or the Lincoln Tunnel. Personally I like the area around Hoboken and going up. Those homes are pretty nice. I go to school on LI and from CA soo that's all I've seen and pretty much know about NJ
