Btw, this is still a freec country, yes? I am allowed to have my own opinions, yes? The bleeding heart communist socialist progressive liberals haven't completely ruined this country and my right to consummate freedom of speech, yes?

You're allowed to say/respond however you want. And I'm allowed to tell you that your little sarcastic schtick makes you come off as a complete douche.

Point well taken. Back to the topic of heroic cop sticking it to communist transplants.

Please stop beating a dead horse. We get it. You're not "wannabe" but a "real" intellectual. I bow to you.

Now back to the topic of cops showing transplants what's what.

I also find it disturbing that some people here are so quick to attack the victim. What the hell does it matter if the woman was yelling dumb things, if the protestors were all transplants, if you don't like protests, etc, etc?

I couldnt agree with you more.

Ive seen videos were the police actually begin to make their appearance. They in fact got very close to the protesters pushing and shoving them which was not neccessary, so I can most definately say that they started the violence here in this case, They are known for that so I would find it pretty ubsurd if anyone says anything different.

Im not saying that there doesnt have to be any police presence to maintain the flow of business in the city but they dont have to get so close to peaceful protesters to push and shove them.

NBC News) protesting a financial system that, yes, destroyed the lives of many, eliminated jobs and affected the economy worldwide, but, since the free market produces winners AND losers, people who lost their jobs are just on the wrong side of the fence. CEO's who got tax payer money to rectify their errors are just on the right side of the fence. It's not called injustice, it's called the free market and capitalism. Pure US of A. So yes, not use your brain, stare at the TV and talk about sports at work is the only thing a true patriot would do. Protesting is a sign of weakness and that you hate your country.

PERIOD!
Come on now. I get frustrated with protests like a lot of people and I would most likely be one of the last people to actually join a protest. I personally have no use for them and all that. That being said, its nice to know its there and its nice to know we live in a place that does allow people to protest and express their views. I know protesters often don't support causes that are as important as maybe 50 or 60 years ago but we have to have that cornerstone of our democracy or the whole foundation of the country ceases to make any sense anymore. I have said some very negative things about the current Wall Street protesters but that doesn't mean I want them silenced.

Nation of laws huh??? So I guess that is exactly why we already live in a police state and the country is continuing to be headed in the direction that it is (third world or worse). Nation of laws, keep in mind that every law that is mostly passed isnt for the benefit of the citizentry but for that of the institutions, corporations, and powerful entities behind the scenes who reap every bit of the rewards because the laws were intended to be JUST FOR US. Its not Justice its JUST US because that is who the laws are pertaining to.

Just because we were taught at a young age to obey the laws and the cops doesnt mean that the law or police is always right. Unlike most people I'd like to freely think for myself and that freedom is ever more being chipped away at, all you need to do is look around you.

Not only that, but Anthony Bologna has been implicated in other incidents of brutality going back several years.

From all I've seen so far, from the orange corrals to the aggressiveness, it would seem clear to me that the NYPD is not adequately trained in crowd control, if they can't even contain a few hundred protestors without resorting to violence, themselves.

I've participated in many demonstrations in DC, where crowds are exponentially larger than the current protest in New York and could do some serious damage if they got out of control, and the NYPD could learn a few things from the MPD because the MPD does more with less. The role of police officers in situations like this is to stand there and keep their hands to themselves unless something bad happens, as shown in my first photo.

"Something bad" does not include shouting slogans, singing, walking, carrying signs, taking photos, filming the event, or even filming the police themselves, all of which are legal activities. They may not like it, as evidenced by the one guy third from the left giving me the stinkeye for taking their photo, but they are there to do a job, not make political judgment calls.

As for doing more with less, the second (admittedly lousy and out-of-focus) photo, which I took from behind the line, will show you the odds: If there was a crowd surge, no way were those cops going to be able to hold the demonstrators back without some serious tear-gassing, and even then, it would be a stretch because those cops themselves didn't have masks or riot shields. They'd have had to call the police in from off the Mall, the mounted police and the ones who did have riot shields and tear gas. But even those cops did not interact with the crowd. They sat atop their horses under some trees and kept watch. They were prepared--even the horses had gas masks--but they didn't engage.

Funny how no one got out of hand, though--and we went right up to the White House gates at the end. No pepper spray. No tear gas. No mace. No yanking people off a protest line and throwing them on the ground. No broken cameras or video equipment. Nothing. Just people availing themselves of their First Amendment right to peacefully assemble and petition their government for redress.

The police are there in the event of violence, not to cause violence. They are there to protect people and property from being harmed, regardless of which side claims those people and property.

The only reason these few cops in New York behaved in such a barbaric way is because they outnumber the protesters. In short, they were bullies. Guess they feel like big men, now.

the NYPD are generally good people.

imho, those "protestors" are really stupid kids. like they wouldn't even know where to begin to fix the country. the "smarter" kids are actually trying to fix things.

so yes, a good bashing? totally.
