It was wonderful when it was a very "adult" intimate West Village affair and then when they moved it over to Lex it became this huge very dull mega-parade with a Disney feel and a gajillion cops and their endless barricades to spoil the mood.

I went once to the new version and said NEVER AGAIN.

I don't have a tv but still plan to go see the parade in person tomorrow. Both excited and apprehensive! Will be back with an overview of my experience. ;-)

It's still on 6th Ave in the Village.

Kool. I went 3 years ago. I think of it as similar to Mermaid Parade instead of during the dark. My advice is stay sober until Friday...

I went to the parade before and it was ok. Fun to go once, but that's about it. Way too many people, way too many freaks (not the kind you are there to see), and way too many cops/barricades. The fun is more for tourists, those who live/work along the route, and transplants.

Did you ever see it in the 1970's when it marched down Christopher Street, It was interesting, intimate, and terrific!

I agree totally. When it was really a gay parade it was great. Now all of long island seems to show up.

Well if you guys choose Kelly Ripa for the Grand Marshal, who do you expect to show up in force besides LI soccer moms?
