so I'm planning to move to Brooklyn by January. I'm going to find a job there and work for a year and then return to school. I'll be staying with either my family a little up north or my sister in the city while I find a job and once I find a job I'll most likely find a room to rent for a year at the max 700(with or without utilities). I'm not too picky about room sizes and such,as long as I can fit a decent sized bed and my clothing.I currently have $2,000 saved up but by the time late December comes around I'm hoping to be a little over 3,000. Is that enough to have saved up for my situation? I'm not planning to move anything big (I'm living in Fl right now)just my clothes and little belongings. This is just for a start.
Also, how much should one be making before taxes to survive low budget there? I understand that low budget is a word not often spoken in the boroughs but I'm pretty simple and wouldn't mind the whole paycheck to paycheck routine for a while. Just an estimation if you can
thanks!

There have been plenty of threads started with similar themes as yours. The good thing is, you have a place to stay already lined up.

As far as finding a job and how much rooms cost, the locals can help you.
