I was considering going up to NYC(Manhattan) for New Years Eve. I would be coming from Philadelphia area so I was wondering how bad is the commute up there say via NJ Transit? Could anyone give advice or share experiences. Also Im worried getting back on New Years Day could be a nightmare.

Also how is it moving around the city on subway? I would have a place to say on 57th street…so I was wondering if it would awful just trying to get there as well.

Do it at your own risk. But I guess it'll all really comes down to where will you actually be spending New Years. If you're going to Time's Square and want to see the ball drop, good luck. Just make sure you get there extra early like a day earlier.

The subways should be fine though, the only problem would probably be anything close to 42nd ...say 34th st to 57th. Everywhere else in the city should be fine though.

I would recommend against trying to park your car in Times Square.
