Yes, I did a few years ago with some friends. We did maybe three different events. It was overall a very good experience. They have an easy to maneuver website where you can search for volunteer opportunities by interest. I forget if there may have been a "training" or something like that which you must do before being eligible to volunteer. But I recommend them. Wish I had more time to still participate!
Agreed, it's quite easy to try lots of different types of volunteering and you can learn things too. When I signed up I had to do a training session. I think it might have been an hour and no biggie.
Thanks for the feedback. While I wait for this possible job next month, I figure I might as well take as much free/cheap courses and seminars as possible while looking into volunteering as well.
I've learned to knit, taught computer skills to senior citizens, sewed costumes for kids in hospitals, tutored 2nd graders and SAT skills to high schoolers, among many other things. But I did have a few less than ideal experiences when it came to organization and accountability.
