My uncle told me about this a few months ago- he worked on the building. It was always obvious that foreign oil money would be the only realistic pool of buyers.
I guess I imagined that a saudi would snatch it up- probably wouldn't have guessed a wealthy Russian college girl.

For the same reason people buy entire islands, yatchs or planes.
They want luxury and more than that, the social 'status' that comes with them.
Some people have more money than they will ever be able to spend in their lifetime, so 88 million is like pocket change for some of them.

Yeah, having the ability to spend that much on an apartment is surreal to me. Her father can only afford it because he is a criminal.

Im lucky if i have 88 cents. This russian woman is one spoiled brat. Does anyone have a pic of her ? I bet shes attractive (they usually are). I would love to visit NYC during the fall & christmas time but im poorer then dirt.

For the recognition that you have that much money to throw around. Isn't that the purpose for most high luxury items? The increased quality, which sometimes is not even there, justifies the exponential increase in cost. It's for status.

What people do with there own money is their business. If the seller goes through with their statement, be happy it will be spread to charity.

Manhattan real estate is a game, which I do not have the means to participate. So be it.
