Trinity's plans call for adding up to 3,500 apartments to the neighborhood, including a new tower over 400' tall with a public school at the bottom. The neighborhood is literally devoid of most life... with the exception of rats and NIMBYs. The planned development has met extensive opposition, even over the planned school. This comes at a time when Manhattan is seeing a relative baby boom, and is greatly lacking space for education. With the emphasis NIMBYs place on developing affordable units for families rather than singles, the stance seems quite out of touch.

It's ridiculous that this is occurring. The school issue is the cherry on top--NYC is so unaffordable because new housing is so difficult to construct. I think we need to aim for large-scale redevelopment of lower density neighborhoods that don't have historic value, while greatly expanding the allowable FAR for vacant lots across the city...

Please bring the development to Washington Heights or Harlem.

An absolutely ridiculously prejudiced article aimed to serve SMALL narrow interests, NOT the city as a whole.!

First, must every square inch of Manhattn be crawling with people???? Enough already!

Second, you want "affordable rents"? Then increase the Supply housing by removing and eliminating the obstacles which imncrease the cost of building in NYC AND which inhibits the function of the free market, namely Price Controls/Rent Laws.

Simple as that.

I am for the school. The development is being planned out with the right mindset. Residential built above, mixed zoning. This is also redeveloping an under utilized area, what's not to like?

Build tall, more units, more supply. Especially the far West side is ripe for that kind of development.

Moderator cut: Language' NIMBYs...
