It's not a bank,it's a credit union.Before you join you should understand the difference.

That being said,I belong to a credit union and have found it much friendlier and more supportive of my needs than any bank I ever had an account with.

Not sure about the specific credit union you are inquiring about but I think they have been around for a long time.

Sometimes there are requirements to join a credit union, like membership in some union, some job affiliation, etc.
I tried one in Jersey City, thinking it was a bank and was turned away (from a nice CD interest rate) becasue I wasn't a public employee.

I think if you CAN join, you should. There are advantages.
