Williamsburg is the undisputed Hipster Mecca of NYC.

Runner-ups are; LES and EV.
And to a lesser extent; Union Sq, Greenpoint, Clinton Hill, Fort Greene & Cobble Hill.

The East Village is entirely NYU, not so much hipster.
LES more so.
So-called Nolita - very monied hipster transplant. Or is "transplant" built into the definition of "hipster" - perhaps yes.

They're in the neighborhoods you'd expect.

There's also a steady trickle of them up in Astoria, hoping across Newton Creek into Queens due to increasing rents in Williamsburg and Greenpoint. The map doesn't really reflect that... yet.
