Accent? What accent? Many of us (especially if one attended private school) have no accent. People meeting me for the first time have NO idea where I'm from.

when you are raised in a community, you are expected to carry on that community are you not? Why else were you born?

You grew up somewhere, it becomes your home. Everyone grew up somewhere, hopefully. They should consider that their home, and try to grow it, nurture it, and pass it along to next generation. They should not run away from it

To an extent you are right. But, umm, why aren't you where your ancestors came from then? Unless you are native american, you shouldn't be in nyc
