So a friend of mine is coming into town today and we want to catch up and talk about life and all that jazz. He would like to sit down and have some beers, because that's his thing he LOVES beer. Right now, I'm a little tight and on a budget so I don't want to go crazy spending money of course. I'm looking for a place in Manhattan or Brooklyn that has good beer and inexpensive prices. I know Duffs has 1 PBR till 9pm but I'm still interested in other places since Duffs might be too metal for him.

Thanks!!

back in the day, when I was a broken student. I used to frequent a place on 14st bet 1st and 2nd ave. Draft beer, and a slice of pizza for $2 bucks till 11pm. Don't ask for Belgian quality beer, for the price you can't beat that deal.

espeicially if you're a student on a tight budget.

Forget the bar. That is expensive. Go to the corner bodega and get Brooklyn tall can lagers and sit up on the roof or fire escape and cat call buxom broads on the street below.

Do you want good beer or cheap beer? The two don't usually intersect. If your buddy is the beer snob variety then there's Jimmy's 43 and Burp Castle right next to each other in the East Village. Well known to be some of the best beer bars in the city. Oh an Vol de Nuit on West 4th. Nice hidden gem with a front yard.

If you're after cheap PBR then hit up Duff's and force him to embrace the metal.

When I want to be cheap and want beer and food, I go to Alligator/Crocodile Lounge depending on where I'm at. It's nice to get in there early before it gets busy and when the drinks are still cheaper.

Do you remember Capone's in Williamsburg?
