benrosa, i didnt vote because i don't know the answer. i can only speak about my own experience. i have t-mobile. overall i rate t-mobile's service a 7 out of 10. for street level signals, i was on 60th street near lexington and it worked great, but in an area with shorter buildings (ironically) (park avenue south near 29th street), there was no signal!

now at home, the t-mobile signal in the lobby seems to be 10-12% stronger than on my floor, which is definitely higher than street level. so that's another strange observation. taller or shorter doesn't seem to mean anything with t-mobile. strange. i've heard apartment-hunters visiting my building asking the rental liaisons for the highest floor possible. maybe they have a different carrier or are interested in a high floor for different reasons other than cell signals

when i had verizon wireless, the signals were more consistent all around the city, imo. however, i don't have regrets about switching to t-mobile. i hope this thread doesn't turn into a verizon-versus-at&t insultfest/bragfest. that has happened on this forum before. anyway as far as i know (and someone correct me if i'm wrong) i think the highest 4G is called HSPA+ or something which is actually 3G on steroids, meaning there's no such thing as true 4G for anyone (until the technology improves). "4G" is just a convenient label the public has been fed. it was created by marketing professionals.

anything in blue above should be corrected if inaccurate. corrections welcomed. thanks.

I've used AT&T, Spring and Verizon, and I will say Verizon. But they are unnecessarily expensive. I had Sprint for two years but I got tired of getting texts 2-4 hours after people would send them, plus I needed a global Android phone.

If you count just 4G and just NYC, then AT&T edges out Verizon. It's also significantly cheaper than Verizon.
