10 years would put you roughly at 2002

IMO? Nothing. Everything is basically the same. The cost of living was through the roof back then as well. I think you need to go back atleast 20 years to really see the difference.

But the one true drastic change I can see is the cost of the MTA. Back then it was like 1.50 plus you had all day fun passes for 4 bucks and monthys were like $64...now those prices have almost doubled and there are no all-day or weekly passes.

The unlimited weekly is $29.

You asked a question wanting an answer & opinon & I gave you both. Quite frankly with that prissy sensitive attitude that you are sporting shows me that years on the West coast has soften you up. This only reafirms my orginal statement. Like I said, try Kenucky. You CAN'T & WON'T make it here.

We got the MetroCard in 1994 and it became mainstream in 1997 with the current MetroCard Gold.

On a related note......our subway has changed and continues to change.

The V train no longer exists, as of 6/28/10, the M and V were combined into the Orange M.

The L line has been modified to utilize CBTC (Communications based train control) which allows the line to run automatically and with more trains.

With the introduction of the R160 fleet from 2006-2010 has allowed the MTA to retire the R38, R40, R44 and most of the R32s and R42s that ran on the A, B, C, E, F, J, M, N, W, Z. The R160 can be found on the E, F, J, L, M, N, Q, Z lines.

New transfers have been built at Jay Street-Boro Hall A, C, F and Lawrence Street-MetroTech R (Now Jay Street-MetroTech). 23rd Street-Ely Avenue E, M/Long Island City-Court Square G and 45th Road-Court House Squaree 7 have been linked into one station (Court Square/23rd Street E, M, G, 7). The Uptown 6 platform at Bleecker Street has been linked with the Broadway-Lafayette Street B, D, F, M.

The MTA currently has 2 subway car types on the way.

The R179 (300 cars) to replace whatever R32s and R42s are left on the C and J lines and provide service expansion for Phase I of the Second Avenue Subway. Delivery scheduled to begin in 2015.

The R188 cars (126 new cars, 380 converted R142A cars from the 6 line) to be built for service on the 7 line. The 7 line will be trading cars with the 6 line in preperation for the activation of CBTC. The first new R188 train is expected to arrive in the next couple months with passenger service testing to begin 5/13/2013.

The V and W lines were eliminated, Cortlandt Street station on the R line (Right at the WTC) has been reopened.

City wise, the new WTC buildings 1 and 4 are extremely close to be completed and should be open next year. Buildings 2 and 3 are uncertain right now. Many more skyscrapers are taking shape in the city. Coney Island has changed ALOT with Astroland being replaced by Luna Park (version II).
