Any such stores that sell computer carts WITH WHEELS and TV carts WITH WHEELS that are already PREASSEMBLED?? you just pop them in the car take them home set them down and youre done, no need to assemble?
Gothic Furniture Craft seems to be dwindling. Any still around?
there is a store Allison's discount on B'way near 230th that sells those but they look very very tacky and cheap
There is a big Gothic Cabinet Craft Store in my neighborhood but it's not that close to you. It's on the West Side of White Plains Road just South of Pelham Parkway.I'm thinking there must be one closer to you on Broadway somewhere but maybe not.
Anyway,it's 2157 White Plains Road.
There is another big furniture store right next door that has a lot of that kind of stuff too.
There are many small furniture stores in Astoria (near the intersection of Broadway & Steinway Blvd.) and furniture stores on Queens Blvd. near Queens Place (the former Macy's/Sterns Building). Perhaps one of these stores has what you seek. Also have you checked the IKEA website?
Sometimes you can buy a floor model already assembled and get a good price.
I got my assembled TV stand (polished ebony) long ago at the DOOR STOOR, half price becasue it had no glass doors (which I didn't want anyway)...I guess long gone.
There's a Gothic Cabinet Craft in my neighborhood at 85th and SECOND. I hear they are starving for business because they are nearly atop the eventual 86th St. Station of the Second Ave. Subway and the street is an unholy MESS.
Maybe you can haggle a good deal?
I just bought a preassembled computer cart at GCC with wheels for $150 incl taxes. I took it back in my car to my place which is exactly a mile from the store. I love it. Perfect for my needs. Ditched the 12 year old fake wood cart that Staples assembled in my apartment
They also had a nice TV stand, ivory green with wheels with a few compartments for $199. My flatscreen TV is 32 inches but their stand was 31". my current sturdy but 80's TV stand( the fake wood is peeling) on wheels is 32 inches and has my 32 inch flatscreen on it
what would the inch difference mean? can a 31" stand still hold a 32" TV or should i aim for a 32" stand? i would assume maybe 1/2 inch of the TV would be hanging off each side. could this be a hazard?
i would like this green stand but i don't know. any other stores that would sell preassembled TV stands with wheels?
my 32 inch Vizio flatscreen TV weighs 30 lbs with the stand (as per the manual) and has a gross weight of 37 lbs. what is the difference? do you think the 31 inch TV stand for sale at GCC can hold that weight? the guy on the phone at GCC said it can hold a traditional TV but when i asked what about a flatscreen he said it could hold a flatscreen. is there a way to find out how many lbs this stand can actually hold?
I have a lovely Gothic BIG birch desk 2' x 5' with 6 drawers including 2 file-sized drawers that I stained walnut and polyurethaned myself. I got it for $115 and I still get compliments on it. (Hint, to get it for that price, arrange to buy it 30 years ago.)
I have a 7 foot high, 4 feet wide, 7 shelve birch bookcase about the same age...$85. Finished the same as the desk.
I have bought and thrown out a LOT of stuff over the years, but never thrown out anything from GOTHIC. As I recall both were bought from a Gothic on Sixth Ave almost on the corner of 14th St.
But alas, they are MUCH more expensive now...so what else is new?
I bought the 31 inch TV stand, preassembled from Gothic a few hours ago. space for CD's and DVD's on the sides, plenty of media space for the cable box and DVD player, and is 15 inches higher than what i was using before. it looks absolutely gourgeous. for $199 i would not be able to find a preassembled all wood stand in a big box store or online so i grabbed it.
