It's the end of the month and there must be people planning to move around the Halloween. Now with the storm, I wonder what happens? Will the landlord be kind enough to let you stay more days?

Do you think the mortgage company, the light comany, will give the LL a few days of free payments???

You think his employees will give the LL a few days of no salary???

Do you think YOU could be so kind as to pay another months rent????

Maybe the mortgage company won't ask for the mortgage amount for the days in the month you don't pay.

That's rude and doesn't apply to a rental situation at all. Kindness to those asking for advice goes a long way as an adult .

OP I would absolutely call your landlord. When I moved out of my last place I was supposed to be out by the first of the month, but I had trouble finding a moving company. My landlord was totally cool with it and let me pay for a 15 day extension. I think it actually worked to his advantage since he then had 15 days left in the month to paint the place and advertise it for a July 1st move in rather than a mid-June rental after he was done fixing it up. I really highly doubt that any landlord would force you out in the middle of a natural disaster, especially if you offer to pay part of the months rent to cover the time you are there.

well he's a bit strange because when jcoltrane wakes up he decides whether he's going to be helpful or rude. 95% of the time it's the latter, unfortunately.

He clearly said that was only if no one else had already rented the apartment and was moving in. If the landlord is faced with receiving $0 rent money, versus at least a small amount for a few days, that seems like a pretty easy choice.

So yes indeed, the brain deadness exhibited in this thread is quite hilarious....
