The M train joined the list of restored subway services earlier this afternoon, in time for the Thursday evening rush period. M trains is operating in 2 sections: Between Myrtle Avenue-Broadway and Metropolitan Avenue. Between Parsons-Archer and 34 St-Herald Square making train stops between 71 Av-Forest Hills and 34 St-Herald Square.

Additionally, 7 trains are set to resume partial service at about 9 p.m., tonight, running between Main Street and 74th-Broadway, where customers can transfer to Queens Boulevard F and M trains for the trip into Manhattan.

The mta workers are doing a wonderful job in making the best out of the chaos created by Miss Sandy, don't you all think so? It definitely takes longer to commute these few days but it is amazing that they are able to get things going for no additional fees. Those traffic guards are risking their own safeties standing in the middle of the dark streets to instruct the traffic flow. No words express my appreciations properly. Great job, everyone, including King mike!!!

I'm confused about the m train. MTA site says its now operating between 34th herald and Jamaica, but I dont think it goes to Jamaica. It ends at forest hills, right? I didn't think it ever went to Jamaica. Am I reading the map wrong? I'm on a phone so its harder for me to look things up.

I think it's an extension - like a special one? because the wording on the service change advisory (on the non-map main landing page) matches the graphical map where it shows the M ending at Parsons Archer. very different from normal

As of 6AM Friday morning:

The 7 subway service is running between Main Street and 74th Street/Roosevelt Avenue. From there 7 riders can catch the F or M trains going into Manhattan.

Also NJ Transit rail is running on the Northeast corridor, but it is suspended on the other lines that they hoped to have running due to a power failure: Power failure takes out 3 NJ Transit lines - SFGate
