Trying to go to JFK tomorrow. What is best since I have no car. I'm in Jackson Heights right now. Should I just walk for a bit and eventually catch a cab? What do you suggest?

Yes, there will be no trains to Howard Beach, and no E train service to the Airtrain at Sutphin Blvd, so a car service is your only real choice.

There's an "airport shuttle" category on yelp. Jfk van Elmhurst, Queens, NY

I would just call a car service like Mexicana, but it might be tough to get something for tomorrow. Lots of competition.

yes, but you might have a lot of competition tomorrow from all the other people who can't make it to work by public transportation.

I'm in Jackson heights and may walk closer to the airport just to reduce my cab fare. Any idea where I should try for the cab in order to have the best chace of getting one that'll take me to JFK?

I don't know where you can get a cab easily, but if you're trying to reduce your fare, perhaps you should get on the F train, which is supposed to be running tomorrow (and is free tomorrow) and take it out to the end of the line, Jamaica. Jamaica is much closer to JFK than Jackson Heights.

This is the map that the MTA is putting out for lines that are running tomorrow. http://www.mta.info/sites/default/fi...pOct312012.pdf

The Kew Gardens/Union Turnpike station might be even closer to JFK than Jamaica as the crow flies. Don't know the cab situation there, either.

Take the F train from Roosevelt Avenue to Sutphin Blvd stop. From there you can walk over to LIRR train station (where the E train normally stops and it is walkable!) where you can catch the JFK Airtrain IF it is functioning. If not, then there should be car service cabs roaming there for you to get to JFK.

Another option is to take the F train to Union Turnpike and then take the Q10 bus to the airport. But this is very time consuming as on a regular day as the bus ride is approx. 45 min. and who knows how long you might have to wait to get on the bus today. I too am not sure if there will many car service cabs roaming around there.

If it were me I would try the first option (to Sutphin Blvd. near the Jamaica courthouse) or just take car service from my home.
