I live in San Diego, Ca Im Moving to NYC in about 3 months and have been searching for a roomate in either brooklyn or queens. But I always wonder what is the right and Safe way to go about finding a roomate on the internet I have tried craigslist, Backpage, and roomates.com and have found some interesting ppl but how would I go about handling the money situation becasue I wouldnt wanna get scammed any help would be very appreicated and exteremly helpful also what are some good areas in brookly or queens to look into somewhere decent , close to the subway and city and I DONT wanna be in a deserted type neighborhood or one with much violnece either. I never been to nyc so any advice will be greatly appreciated THANK YOU!!!

It might be wise for you to visit before you move here. And coming here without a job (at least you didn't say that you had a job) will make it harder to secure a place to live.

I'm currently looking for an apartment as well. I've seen 2 places through craigslist. Both places were alright and the roommates were like anyone else and pretty nice. I think it's better to hook up with a friend and get a room together, but it's hard for me since all my friends live outside the area. All the people at work are basically older than me and established with a home and everything. Want to look for a place together? lol
