If you want to major in psychology, you will likely go after a professional degree, yes ?
In that case ... I would definitely save my major loan burden for that. You can get funding, but it is never enough.

You could, as well, gain funding after proving yourself in your undergrad department. This would more likely happen at a "better" school (Columbia, NYU) where there IS money. At the same time, keep in mind that funding for transfers is often difficult.
