Some Victims' Families Outraged at $24 Admission to 9/11 Museum - NY1

I think that no NYer should be charged an admission fee to this museum especially anyone who was living in the city during the 9/11 attacks. I don't have a problem with an admission fee for tourists who don't live here. What do you think about the admission fee?

It should be 50% off for residents of NY at the very least.

Then you should add NJ and CT too because they had a lot of loss of life from those states.

Or perhaps a suggested contribution for NYC residents?

There shouldn't be any admission fee whatsoever. How much money has been donated for 9/11???

The "9/11 widows/widowers' and the "9/11 families" have all become millionaires behind this (mortgages paid off, kids' college paid off, trust funds for kids, etc etc etc).

There are HOW many "9/11 funds"?? How much money was donated to create this museum????? We're talking millions upon millions upon millions. It wouldn't surprise me if it went into the billions if you added it all up.

When 9/11 happened, people ALL OVER THE WORLD were just donating money left and right. Celebrities (like Rosie O'Donnell) were donating $1,000,000.

For them to charge $25 admission is just plain wrong. The admission should be FREE with a 'suggested donation'. Most people who go to the museum will leave a donation.

That's insane. I can't see how it costs $60million a year to operate. Like the article said--it's so the museum execs can get paid. How it was never federally funded is beyond me. Almost every museum and monument in DC is free of charge--how is this one not?

And how does one prove that they are the family of a victim?

Curious--do you have anything to support the comment about "9/11 widows/widowers' and the "9/11 families" have all become millionaires" because I know quite a few people who certainly are NOT millionaires from it. Not saying there aren't people who benefited from of it in some way and forget those who used it as a scam, but I don't think all have become millionaires.

I have zero interest in going to the museum if I have to pay...it is an insult to me, and probably most of you also. If tourists want to be....that's on them.
