Paranoia is what fuels a lot of the gun-nuts, and if a gun makes people feel safer in these imaginary scenerarios, by all means have one.

First off, I come down on SoBro for using massive amounts of straw men. That's about it. Second, yes it may slightly be hyperbole (the zombies obviously), but at the same time it's a reality. And you don't care to acknowledge it. Society could very well break down at any given moment. If you think all will be fine and dandy as you lay around in your boxers after locking the door, then good for you. I'd prefer at least some protection.

Oh and every time you "progressives" use the term "gun-nuts", you're doing yourself a disservice as a so called intelligent person. Just FYI...

This line of argument reminds of the loonies portrayed on the show 'doomsday preppers'. Those people have serious paranoia issues. Besides having that in common, they all share their love for guns. and lots of them.

Now, how would it be to live in a post-apocalyptic society? The world is quite fvcked as it is right now, would I wanna live in one that's 100 times more sh*tty than what we currently have?

I honestly don't know. I rather enjoy my life now, and don't worry about the mayas, nostradamus or zombies one day coming after me.

When and If society breaks down, we'll be all fvcked, even you and your guns.

Does society as we know it breaking down necessarily lead to apocalyptic conditions? I dunno, none of us have ever experienced it. Maybe not though. Maybe it'll be worth it to keep you and loved ones alive.

How about if you wake up to an intruder raping your daughter on a regular Wednesday night? Is it not worth it to put in bullet somewhere in that guy? Because yes, all legal gun owners should (the vast majority do) know how to use them properly.

Why not on a Saturday? J/K

I don't know how this would come about.

not long ago, there was a case of a guy who worked in a stable. There was a small girl helping him with the horses, and this guy attempted to rape her.
Her father, who is also the owner of the stable, forgot something and came to the barn. Upon return he encountered the image of this perv on top of his little girl.
The father beath the sh*t out of the rapist with his bare hands. The perv got such a bad beating, that he later died of his wounds.

I would do something similar, or better yet, I would grab anything within reach and smack the POS on the head.

And what if that guy is as big and tough as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson? Are you that skilled, my fellow Internet poster?

And if he has the agility of Jackie Chan, and the moves of Neo from the Matrix.

Sobro is pretty realistic by comparison.

Better write a sci-fi book, you certainly got the imagination for it. Oh and make sure there's a lot of guns in it.
Blasting zombies and the like. Yeaaa

You would have aright to self defense.

Discussing the topic of "gun ownership" in the NYC forum is a lost cause, in my honest opinion, since most of the population here were raised to think guns are evil, and if you have one you must be a criminal.
