So long story short I am looking at law schools in the north east region of america (I'm a pittsburgh native) but I've always been (like most young adults) interesting in the big apple, I know its expensive and packed, but otherwise I know very little, like how much would a cheap lunch be (around here it runs about 7$)
Obviously I do plan on visiting a school if I apply and get accepted (I haven't taken the LSAT yet so I'm not sure exactly where I should look)
In short would you recommend the city? (if this question is common here I'm sorry I didn't look)
This really does depend on your financial situation and the location of the law school you attend.
If for example you end up at Fordham, then a place in the Bronx near campus might be a good idea. If you go to St. Johns, a place near campus in Queens might be convenient. If at Columbia, look into Harlem and If NYU, Brooklyn might not be too far away.
Also, youre not that far away in Pitt. I would advise you visit more frequently to get a better feel.
it isn't a joke, because there are places here were you can get a 5$ pizza, and well I weigh 135 (meaning im a pretty small guy) and it isn't filling to me even.
I know that no1 drives in new york (besides taxis) but well, is there anything else you would suggest knowing about before someone makes a weekend trip even?
Let me do my good deed for the day and advise you not to be a lawyer. There are really any number of better things to do with your life. The debt is extremely high, jobs are hard to come by, the career isn't especially satisfying, etc., etc. Just think really hard before you do this, whether in NYC or elsewhere.
If you insist, I suggest not coming to NYC to study because your debt will be even higher than it would be elsewhere. I would make an exception to that if you can get financial aid to study at Columbia or NYU, or perhaps a full ride at Fordham.
I plan to, but currently I am focusing on finishing my undergrad loans (so i work quite a bit) but hopefully in summer I will make a trip
but thanks
Are you sure you want to take on new loan for law school?
I hope you are well aware of the reality of the law education industry which is going through dramatic changes to deal with the fact that many graduates find no job and have huge loan. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/31/ed...s-are-cut.html
