hello guys : ) can someone tell me if the Metro-North Monthly Pass works for both ways? I know this is probably a stupid question, but yeah it's my first time commuting... I live in Westport, CT and I have a summer internship in Manhattan. So when I purchase my monthly pass, do I just buy one for "Westport to GCT" or do I need to buy one for Westport to GCT and another from GCT to Westport? I deeply appreciate your helping me eliminate this confusion....................
The monthly pass is for both ways. You can ride the train as often as you like in between Westport and GCT. If you bought a pack of 10 trips - those are one way but the monthly pass is like an unlimited metro card - except for in between 2 particular stations.

Make sure you get peak going from Westport to Manhattan. If you stop before manhattan (i used to commute Fairfield to Greenwich) you avoid the peak charges, and if you do the reverse commute (from manhattan to CT in the am) you also avoid it.
Yes - but you don't have to worry about peak or not peak if you have a monthly pass. Peak and off peak only applies with the ten packs or single ride tickets.

Really? I wasn't aware of that, tho it makes sense since there's really no way to differentiate which direction you're going.
When you buy a monthly pass - you are buying an unlimited ticket to go between the two designated stations as often as you would like during that month. Most people buying the monthy pass are daily commuters and are always travelling during peak times. It's like an unlimited metro card but just between 2 stations. Peak and Off Peak don't exist if you have a monthly pass.
