I'm curious what people thing the ACTUAL impact the Marine Transfer Station will have on Yorkville in the Upper East Side. I'm not looking for the NIMBY argument or the "rich Upper East Siders have to share the burden" argument. Put aside the politics as much as possible for now and assume that it is built. How will it impact the quality of life in the neighborhood? Have any independent assessments been conducted? Will it be as bad as neighborhood activists claim with constant garbage truck noise and stench? Is this neighborhood destruction of Robert Moses proportions, hysteria, or something else? I'd appreciate your thoughts.
I think the noise will be bad and any stench or refuse disease concern will be minor but there. York Ave is not that busy in the upper '80s and all those trucks are going to be noticed majorly.
