You can still see similar things in cities like Camden although with smaller buildings. Anyone nostalgic about the "good ole" days of NYC should go there and check them out.

That’s definitely NOT Stuy Town.. Stuy Town windows have been green since day 1. The buildings on the Ave.. C & D are not that tall. This could be facing downtown but I do not see the Manhattan, Williamsburg, or even Brooklyn Bridge anywhere!!
So I have no clue in other words...

That picture is from 138TH Street Mott Haven, Bronx

The picture was taken from the north with the photographer facing south ..

I retract my earlier suggestion and now think it's still Alphabet City, but facing south. The arrow isn't pointing to a building but to one of the Manhattan Bridge towers. You can get a decent facsimile of that skyline with Google Earth, but not enough to place it.

No, you'd have to be facing more East to see the Williamsburg bridge. If I'm right, the photographer is roughly facing Governor's Island.

Sometimes I wish I had a time machine .. to go back and see the streets back then versus today .. It looked like a whole different world back then .. Crazy picture .. Looks like civil war had taken place ..
