If you're that worried about it, just get ur driver's license and use a ZipCar on the weekends....

My husband has no driver's license (never had one, grew up in city, always lived in city) and we are happily married. He also owns his own business and does well. It is a little annoying when we got on vacation and rent a car and I'm the driver! But really not a big deal.

I know native New Yorkers who never learned to drive, or waited well into adulthood. It's a non-issue.

Also consider that automobile ownership among the 18-30 year old singles demographic is lower then those who have families too. So the city rates are further skewed.

If you go on a date here you typically meet that person where ever first.

It's normal here to be without one.

Uh, in NYC it's actually expected that you don't have a car. No problem at all.

Yes!

To elaborate, budget for Taxis. Save your money unless you think you're gonna get lucky.

More importantly, if you hit it off well enough with a nice enough woman, she won't mind most subways anyway.

I'm gonna assume you're at least -normal- looking. Between that, yer own place, yer own job; you'll be alright. I said on other messages; don't just think about Friday and Saturday night at clubs and bars. NYC is the one city where just being out in the daytime can be better than most clubs. Enjoy it.
