The poor would run oit to the local car dealer and buy the gaudiest auto they could find.
Most def. And open up an alloy wheel dealership. In more greener areas a good portion of the money would go to the local cat shelter, a new sprinkler system for the garden, cooking and sewing equipment, diet pills and workout videos, swiss, true crime literature, a four wheel drive german SUV and finally a vasectomy for hubby.
Of course there would be many who squander it, but most most people would be smart and pay off debts and/or save it. As ridiculous as giving people 100K sounds, it could have actually been done several times over if the country hadn't wasted to much money on expensive defense projects that went nowhere, bank bailouts, etc.
The government has a keen interest in encouraging individuals to maintain some type of debt, whether be a mortgage, medical, or even credit cards. If most people didnt have debt then our corporate government would have far less control over the population.
Are you for real. They will blow the money and rack up even more debt.
Extortionist 25%?.....how about not spending if you dont have the money? Is that too much responsible thinking for you?
Screw the "poor"....most made their lot in life anyway. Not my problem when most poor never knew the meaning of ambition and education to begin woth.
Go read the Sanitation thread thats always on here. The most ambitious posters on this forum. Trying hard to get a good job. What a refreshing attitude compared to the perennial "wheres my next city handout" crowd who usually post on here.
Prices in the area would inflate so the $100k meant little to nothing. There's a reason economics is the "dismal science". Those exiting NYC would do the best; the further/more unique the better to escape the inflationary effect.
The poor would pay off their extortionate credit card debt at 25% interest and put some savings in the bank, perhaps for the first time in their lives.
Odds are many of the pooor think poor and would just go right back to poor again.
Just the opposite of many of the rich. They can lose everything and what ever they did to become rich they would just duplicate..
So - why was this phrased as a question, if you answered it? Not sure what the point is here. It's not like it's a fun query of "What would you buy with your $100,000?"
