I checked crimemaps NYC and this precinct seemed safe but I wanted to ask if these areas will be safe (looking at 2 apartments, both a few blocks from the water)?

1) 31st Ave and 21st Street, right next to Rosa's Pizza
2) 31st Road between Crescent Street & 23rd Street

Can someone please provide their insights?

Look up the official NYPD crime stats at - https://www.nyc.gov/site/nypd/stats/...ts.page#queens

Good luck in your apartment search. Maybe next to a pizza place might be a bit too noisy.

Those blocks are both safe. Most of Astoria is very safe in general, but these addresses are located in the less desirable part of the neighborhood because they are both far from the train and close to the Ravenswood and Astoria housing projects. In my opinion the projects themselves are unsafe but the surrounding blocks are very safe, even right across the street.

2nd location is definitely better as it's on a completely residential street and is more likely to be quieter.

You'll be a few minutes closer to the N/W train at 30th Ave as well.

Here you go..

https://spotcrime.com/map?lat=40.762...s,%20NY,%20USA

Assault and Theft seems to be a regular occurrence around here.
Hard to believe in Astoria. I thought this place was once sacred grounds.

Me ? Personally ? I'd look someplace else.

I have done extensive searches prior to buying my home(s)
over many many decades.
Longest I stayed in one place was 20 years.
After that 10 years.............yes 10 years on average.........because of crime
and no other reason.
I have seen areas go from safe to concerning in this amount of time.
Where I am now has reached the 10 year mark and trouble has arrived
as predicted.
Welcome to modern day New York City.

Best wishes.
