Well enjoy a longer commute then. After more time then a few short weeks you will be hating that commute and dreaming of living in the bronx.

I doubt that...the commute from Grand Central to CT isn't bad at all!

The point is to find a fast way to get to Grand Central. If you can do that, your commute will be a breeze. I already mentioned Long Island City (Court Square, Queensboro Plaza) where you can catch the fast and frequent #7 subway straight to Grand Central. Also look at Murray Hill in Manhattan which is popular with young new arrivals.

Alternatively, look at the more developed suburbs along the MNR New Haven line - New Rochelle, Mamaroneck...maybe Port Chester. I think there are a couple of Avalon apartment complexes in New Rochelle and Mamaroneck where you can walk to the MNR stop. Then at nights and weekends you can ride to Manhattan for leisure.

I guess Murray Hill. Commuting to Connecticut is really the only good reason to live in Murray Hill.

I'm definitely looking into neighborhoods in Queens. I really like Murray Hill, so its pretty expensive for me right now. I want to find a 4 bedroom apartment for 3200 to 3500. I work in Norwalk, CT.

Move to Connecticut, preferably with a walk to work.
Come to Manhattan for the weekends.

Daily multi-hour commuting is soul destroying.

Why on earth do you need 4 bedrooms, lol? That price range is never going to happen in Manhattan.

Or do you mean to share?

Well, knowing that there's probably somebody else out there is a similar situation, I'll put this down anyway: If you work in Connecticut and are considering The Bronx, your best bet is to move to the "Little Italy" area, which is within walking distance of the Fordham MNRR stop. Either that, or possibly the Pelham Parkway area, which is a short ride on the Bx12 or Bx22 bus over to the station.

BTW, can the mods change the title to reflect the fact that the OP is working in CT? (It would make it easier to find for somebody in a similar situation)

I think there are other things that OP would like to do while residing in the metro area besides commuting to CT.
