Central and Western Queens had a lot of South Asian, East Asian, and Central and South American immigrants by the 1980s. So they became diverse, and noticeably so by 1985.

So she's a black American. I dont consider black and white to be diverse, that is just regular. When you say diverse I think of foreigners, i.e. black and white people from outside the United Staes, Asians, and latinos.

That's why I said "I think JC is actually more balanced, but within the different racial/ethnic groups, there isn't as much diversity."

As for being ghetto, like all cities, it has areas that are good, bad, and so-so. The worst areas of JC (Greenville & Bergen-Lafayette) could easily give the worst areas of NYC a run for their money, though.

In Newark, the murder rate for the overall city is a little higher than that of Brownsville, so when you factor out the safer areas, that means the bad areas are really bad (though keep in mind that back in the 1980s, crime was higher in Brownsville than it is today).
