My father's family is from Romania and I spent several months there in the 90s. People were very easy to get to know in my opinion. I never noticed any staring. They really dislike the Roma (tsigani in Romanian).
Wondered the same.Is there a Romanian enclave around there? They might be Albanians.
Well, there are Romanians around there. But just because a restaurant is Romanian doesn't mean all the patrons also are. That would be like walking by a Greek restaurant in Astoria and assuming all the patrons are Greeks without ever hearing them open their mouths. Maybe in this case they were all Romanians, but I'm just curious how he knew for sure.

If it is like some of the cafes in Ridgewood and Glendale, than you can tell. They are more like men's clubs than cafes as I really don't think outsiders frequent them. Some don't even have anything written on the awning. Usually Romanian or Italian.
