I noticed a marked decrease in crime rates for murders, thefts, and assaults from 2000 to 2002 compared to that of 1999 to 2000, even after taking into consideration the fact that 2001 data is left out and so the jump from 2000 to 2002 is twice as long as that from 1999 to 2000. By the way, does the exclusion of 2001 data have anything to do with 9/11?
There was a feeling of solidarity among all NYers after 9/11 for a year or two. People were more friendly
to each other in the aftermath, there was a sense of solemnness and unity in the air. Maybe criminals
were feeling the same effect of 9/11 and don't feel like commiting crimes against fellow NYers?
I still see planes flying over manhattan going to land at lagaurdia.
did we not learn anything from 911. anything at all people????
manhattan should be a no fly zone for ever, and tough on the FAA, the most corrupt agency in the world.
The planes on 9/11 were destined for California. Whether air traffic is allowed over Manhattan or not means nothing; if a terrorist takes over a plane in Newark, he can fly into a target in Manhattan long before anything could possibly stop him.

Small planes are also allowed to fly along the Hudson river next to Manhattan. But this like the planes going to La Guardia isn't an issue as these are regular flight paths. The 9/11 planes deviated on purpose from their scheduled flight paths which were not going to Manhattan.
