We had to enroll my 12 year old son (who will be 13 soon) in one on one sessions with a personal trainer in order for him to get access to Crunch Gym. This is a big expense that we has to discontinue soon. Would anyone know a Manhattan gym that excepts teen agers?

I think it's a liability issue. I think many gyms will accept a young person as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

There isn't a gym at your sons school?

The school gym is just an open room with basketball courts. My son never got into team sports. The only sports he seemed to take a liking to were tennis and ping pong. Once he changed schools he lost touch with most of his friends that took tennis lessons with him and going across town to play ping pong only happens once in a blue moon. He is rather enthusiastic about working out with the personal trainer but going a few times a week for one year would probably cost $10000. I would prefer put that money into his college fund.

Try the West Side YMCA. They have family memberships. 2 adults and kids under 18 for $160 monthly.
