Agreed and not only old people suffer. Anyone who has to work outside or has certain health conditions can't tolerate this record breaking cold weather we are having this winter.

Tell you what, anyone looking for RS board to vote a rent freeze or low increase this year maybe out of luck. Unless it turns downright balmy in February and remains so until April landlords are going to complain of high heating costs.

Finally a real winter, with white snow and freezing temperature, at least for a few days. Cheers to those who enjoy real winters!!

BUT, I hope the train will not be shut down, because I have a lot of work to take care of.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

There needs to be a law that says the lowest night time temperature around the NYC area is 40 degrees in the winter. I mean I know NYers are always out and about no matter what nature is throwing at them but this frigid in your face biting at you kind of cold just makes being outside unbearable!
Also, besides the cold I do wish the earth stayed a little bit greener around this area in winter. Although of course if you take any plant and stick it in a freezer for 3 months it just can't survive. Although at least spring seems to come earlier every year and lucky for us our plants, flowers, and trees come back with a vengeance of lush color!
PS. I do think though if it's gonna be so cold and the earth so dead let it snow at least the fresh white is indeed pretty and quaint and always gives a peacefulness to NYC.

NBC reporting that with the wind-chill factor it is -9 degrees F. Stay safe when venturing out this morning!

CBS is now reporting that the air temperature in Central Park is 7 degrees but with the wind-chill factor it feels like -14 degrees. Make sure to keep all exposed skin covered as much as possible when going outside today.

A bit warmer this morning as it is feels like -4 degrees including the wind-chill factor. I hope it is cold enough for the people that really love the cold weather.

This is friggen abysmal. I should have KNOWN this was going to happen as soon as I bought a monthly MTA card.

First one I bought was January 2011, and on the way back from the first trip (Astor Spirits, natch) I began to ache. Three weeks with the flu and 4 subway rides at about $14 each (reduced fare.)

I think the monthly cards carry a curse.

Am I excited about the frigid weather blast? Nope, since I never had a lobotomy.

But tonight I'll force myself over to 11th Avenue (42nd St.)...I have tickets for the Kathleen Chalfonte play.
