Hey all, I just found this forum. It looks like a great place for info! I'm considering transferring to Manhattan for work and was wondering if i'm being dupped by various apt ads. I've been looking at nytimes.com a lot and have found a lot of nice places in the $2600/month range.

I'm wondering if its possible to find a 2 bedroom for $2600/month in the 79th st area (east or west), or have i found some fake ads? Also, what site would you guys recommend for apt hunting? I'm nervous about craigslist, i know someone who was screwed on there.

Thanks!

try the NY times online classified, less scammers there, you should never pay an up front fee for an any apartment, if you are asked for an up front fee more than likely you are being scammed.
fees are legal but only pay them after signing a lease
