Relates to what a few people on here were saying about long time residents getting grandfathered in to dirt cheap rent or co-ops.

I use to work with one of the people interviewed in this article! I always wondered about her place and now I know.

My family has a very similar situation in an Inwood apt we've lived in for almost 40 years. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, HUGE apt for less than $1k. My oldest brother has always kept it as his address though my mother is still on the lease. After living in 500 sq ft in midtown it's always nice to go "home" and visit.

That was a great article.
Glad that most of these people realize how lucky they are to have their sweet deals.
Although The last guy who said I never had a choice to go anywhere else. Sure he did. He just didn't want to pay market rent.

I wonder if there is an equal term for those in this situation like "golden handcuffs" for people that hate their jobs but stay for the high pay?
