Remember this next time you hear guff from yet another self serving politician about how WELL our economy is doing and the ridiculous word RECOVERY.
There is no recovery. The job market has not improved and I don't know why the government keeps lying about this.
I guess they're still trying to push that fake Tony Robbins or The Secret crap, that if you believe hard enough, then you can "will" it into existence.
Despite Mr. Bloomberg's efforts and Rudy G before him word is still out on the streets that the NYC shelter system is a soft touch. No other city or state for that matter in the United States is mandated by law and constitution to provide housing basically for anyone who requests.
Homeless/housing advocates will say the City needs more "affordable" housing to deal with the shelter problem. This neglects the problem many of the households in the shelter system either are unemployed, already on public assistance, and or earn <$40K per year. Housing for such persons isn't called "affordable" but low income, aka The Projects.
The USA needs to have sexual education in junior high and high school. Every school year/ semester have a refresher course. Also, free condoms should be available at schools in a kiosk to avoid embarrassment. In high school, the sexual Ed should implicate the financial and opportunity cost of having a kid when you are not financially, mentally, and emotionally prepared.

OK, but the problem with this "education" is that it won't work. Just look at the people who already have one baby when they are not financially, mentally or emotionally prepared. Do they learn from their mistakes? No! They just keep having more kids and adding to their burden and the burden of the government and taxpayers as well.
If the lessons learned by bringing one baby into an unprepared household don't stick, then there is absolutely no way a class with these lessons in a classroom setting would work. But hey, it doesn't hurt to try.
