Numbers of violations are not always the best indicator.Often they stretch back over a period of 30 or more years and often they are linked to issues about elevators and such, sometimes really stupid stuff. My building recently received a violation for having the wrong type of frame on the sign inside the elevator that lists the maximum weight, number of persons and last inspection date.Nothing wrong with the elevator,no complaints about the elevator, just the wrong cover on the sign……and the cover frame had been there for years. Some new inspector,on a routine inspection, decided it wasn't right.

Also,in many buildings you will see years and years of elevator violations.like for 20 or 30 years, and then they stop…..usually because the elevator gets replaced.

It's more important to thoroughly read the violations and dates, etc than to just look at the total number.

Yes, true, in the few that I clicked on in the link to DOB, all the ones I clicked were about the elevator. The DOB link that I gave is really not that helpful.
