try posting your question on Astorians - Queens, Astoria NY, Long Island City . Or better yet, register for that site, and do a search. It's probably been discussed before.

Yeah, that's right by the Woodside Houses. Definitely not as bad as South Jamaica, Baisley Park, Queensbridge, Red Fern, Lefrak City etc. You should be ok, although those projects are pretty huge - kind of an eye sore.

Default Boulevard Gardens

Hi. I have worked here for 13 years and never had a problem with the projects. The best way to find out about this area (or any other area) is to speak with local residents and also to visit the local police precint and ask for their reports on the building/area.

I lived in Boulevard Gardens for 10 years and never had a problem with the projects. Having been born and raised in NYC, and lived by projects all my life in other parts of the city, I would have to say that they are the nicest projects I have ever known. They certainly are the quietest projects(and I know some really bad projects). In all my 10 years living in Blvd Gardens, I never saw police cars or heard of any gunshots in the projects—never. I even walked through them a couple of times as a short cut to shopping and never had a problem.

One time my husband and I went together to some guys house there because he had a problem with his computer and he called my husband to fix it. I didnt feel any threats nor did my husband.

Hope that helps. (Blvd Gardens resident from 1996 - 2006)

What a dump and don't get me started with the people in the management office. They act like they're doing you a favour anytime they have to do something for you. Forgetting, of course, that this is why I pay maintenance. Good luck getting any of those lazy slackers to stay past five. If you have to pick up something in the office, they give you an "I don't know what to tell you". I know what to tell you f#%k off.
