Besides the one cited example of people from Howard Beach having a shorter ride to La Guardia Airport, I really don't see the point of this particular route.
I guess The Daily News is unaware that NYC already has a number of what they call Bus Rapid Transit Routes.
It's called Select Bus Service:Bus Rapid Transit in New York City
" Select Bus Service is New York City’s version of bus rapid transit and incorporates features such as dedicated bus lanes, off-board fare collection, and transit signal priority to offer faster and more reliable service on high-ridership bus routes."
