I bought a new car last year when I was a resident of New Jersey, and had it inspected (expires 2018). I just moved to New York, and when I got my NY State license plates from the DMV today, the lady told me I have to get it inspected again in New York, and gave me a 10-day temporary inspection sticker to put on windshield.
But according to NY State DMV website:
Quote:
I will become a resident of New York State and will register my vehicle here. Do I need to get a New York State inspection as soon as I register?
No. Your out-of-state inspection remains valid until it expires, or for one year after the vehicle is registered in New York, whichever comes first. When your out-of-state inspection expires, you must get the vehicle inspected here.

Does that mean the DMV lady is wrong? I can just leave the my current New Jersey inspection sticker on my car and wait till next year?
