There is no such thing as Muslim terrorism... our Golfer-in-chief said so.

Perhaps, and I hope that's the case. But some pretty intelligent people thought the need for it for the last thirteen years, and it seemed to work out pretty well - no serious attacks and our city thwarted numerous attempts. Seems silly / scary not to use every resource in today's world.

Let's hope some NYPD officers will still be assigned to the federal task forces. Let's also hope that the law-abiding muslims call someone, when some idiot stands up in the mosque & starts ranting about jihad, or the Jews, etc. Or, they smash their kid's computer, when they find out he's been looking at extremist websites.

Agreed. I think this is the reason the unit disbanded. The city probably decided to leave it up to Feds, who have more money and greater resources.

How many plots has this unit uncovered? Zilch. The unit didn't foil any terror plots. They didn't do anything other than hang out in front of Lebanese cafes all day. On top of that, you have to deal with all the legalities of this so called covert operation. That might not go well with a judge. All this work for naught because you didn't know the law and how to finesse your way through it. This is not HOMELAND. Leave the spying to the feds. You are not going to fight ISIS with a bunch of cops lol. GOH!

So basically de Blasio is just paving the way for the next Republican mayor.
