Hi I am a female 21. I live in queens moving to manhattan cause of work. There is an apartment on 172st aubudon ave. or 207st post ave in washington heights. Which area is safer and better?

207th Street is not Washington Heights, its Inwood. I would choose the Inwood location, you have your choice of the A or 1 trains, and Audubon Avenue is rowdy.

They are both fine. Why don't you go up there and take a look for yourself?

172 is a bit closer to everything and a few less stops on the train to midtown.

The A train is pretty fast within manhattan. I believe both are near A train. My choice would be 207th if they are both in same price range. The area is nicer IMO and offers better shopping and restaurant options etc.

SeventhFloor and NooYowkur are better qualified to answer this than me, fwiw. I always thought that area over by the train tracks in Inwood was a little empty and spooky at night but I might not be remembering right. And yeah, Audubon can be loud.

Ok thank you. by the looks of it up by 207 and post it's really crowded and rowdy. But 172 looked quiet but that may be the time I went to see it the 172 and aubudon apartment is less expensive. but I heard that that ave was a drug block?. I'm going be coming home late and live by myself I am street smart but I still want to go to the more safer area.

They are both probably drug blocks (just joking)
But I would pick 207 just because I like Inwood a bit more then washington heights. Inwood has nicer restaurants and shopping.
They are both not too safe in my book, but I would still live in both areas. It depends on what is "Safe" to you.

Audobon has a rep for being "rowdy". Especially in the summer. But hey things change block by block. make sure your comfortable and if it takes repeat visits so be it. Do make sure to walk both areas to get a good sense if you'll feel comfortable. Try to see where you would shop and what your typical walk to and from the train would be like.
