My husband and I will be taking Metro-North to a few shows at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester next month. On the trip home (we live in Inwood), we'll be getting off the train at the Fordham station. How safe is this area at night, and is it difficult to get a cab at the station at night? The Metro-North website lists numbers for two companies (All City Cab and Flash Cab), but I don't know how reliable those are. We'll be getting to the station around midnight/1 a.m.-ish, so I'm not sure waiting for the bus is a good option.
I get off at the Fordham station at midnight several nights per month and there are green cabs waiting right outside . I walk up Webster and have never had a problem. There are some homeless people who sleep in the small park on Webster but they don't bother anyone. I think you will be fine.
No issues, just deserted very late at night! Plenty of cabs to catch, though!
