I am renewing my one-year lease, but I expressed to my LL that I would likely be moving out in 3-4 months. He said that would be OK, and he would include a 30-day notice clause on the lease.
Now that I have the lease, I am hesitant to sign it as I am not sure it fully covers my situation. Specifically:
1) It clearly states that it is a one year lease
2) The text of the clause simply states "Tenant agrees to provide 30-day notice of their intent to move out."
Is clause #2 adequate, or could the LL argue that it was only meant to be applicable at the end of the one year period?
The new management is my building sent everyone a letter that they want 60 days notice (and that is for one year leases as well as 2 year leases). So I assume in your case it is 30 days before you plan to leave (and the fact that is a one year lease is not relevant).
Be careful.
It still reads like a one-year lease to me.
You also need some clear stipulation on what happens to your security deposit.
Why not ask for a month to month lease?
